I was born in Los Angeles Ca. the youngest daughter to a military family, which subsequently led to being moved around a bit as a child. Washington was our final duty station in 1972. While living in Hokkaido, Japan at the age of 10, I was witness to an incredible Taiko performance at a local Obon festival, which left an indelible mark on my memory. 18 years and a few miles brought me to Benaroya Hall in 1998 and my second view of Taiko as performed by SKT. I was so impressed with the dynamics of the group that I signed up that day for their upcoming workshop. Taiko is a harmonious synthesis of so many things I love, rhythm, movement, honor of tradition, spirit, and dance, and I am thankful to have rediscovered it.

As both of my parents come from musical backgrounds, piano lessons, voice lessons, and dance were a given. Throw in a little martial arts in for discipline and I guess you can say playing Taiko seemed inevitable.

I enjoy a professional life as an Interior Designer / Remodeler in the greater Seattle area and have a passion for Black and White photography.
