I could say that my interest in taiko started at the ripe age of five. By ten years of age, under the tutelage of the grand masters of Japan, I myself mastered the art of taiko, drumming and dancing like a graceful phoenix and performing around the world for all to love and appreciate.

Or, I could say that by the ripe age of five, I spent most of my life at my father’s restaurant. By ten years of age, under the tutelage of the master of the house (a.k.a., my mom), I myself mastered the art of transporting five carry-out packages at one time from the kitchen to the dining room at extreme walking speeds (no less than five miles per hour), whisking past the loyal customers who were left contemplating why a ten-year-old girl was sprinting through an eating establishment with soft rock/elevator music playing from its speakers.

The truth is for you to decide...
